All SNB banknote series

  • Ninth banknote series (2016)

    In April 2016, the Swiss National Bank began phasing out the eighth banknote series and replacing it with the ninth. The final denomination, the 100-franc note, was issued on 12 September 2019.

  • Seventh banknote series (1984)

    Roger and Elisabeth Pfund's notes were never put into circulation and were duly destroyed.

  • Eighth banknote series (1995)

    These banknotes were recalled as of 30 April 2021 and are thus no longer legal tender. They can be exchanged for an unlimited period of time at the Swiss National Bank at full nominal value.

    Sixth banknote series (1976)

    These banknotes were recalled as of 1 May 2000 and are thus no longer legal tender. They can be exchanged for an unlimited period of time at the Swiss National Bank at full nominal value.

  • Withdrawn and invalid banknotes are no longer legal tender. They may, however, have some collector's value. The price depends on supply and demand and on what state the notes are in. In contrast to numismatists, antique dealers and commercial banks with a numismatics department, the Swiss National Bank does not deal in withdrawn and invalid banknotes.
